Invention of Dictionary.

The word dictionary has come from the Latin word dictionarium.
A school master named Robert Cowdrey, prepared the first English dictionary in 1604 A.D.
In 1721, Nathan Balley  published a dictionary with about 60,000 words which was the first real dictionary.
The Oxford English dictionary was published in 12 volumes in 1933.
It was a work of John Walker.
In 1989, it came to have 20 volumes.
